The Wire

It would take a lot of time to express just how good this show is and how much I am enjoying working my way through it. A watermark for high quality drama, the level of writing, acting and, most impressively to me, the tightly interwoven structure elevates 'The Wire' way beyond everyday tv shows and up to the higher echelons of greats like 'The Sopranos' and 'Our Friends in the North'.

Currently, I'm just about to watch the last episode of the second season and am truly sad to see Chris Bauer's magnificent Frank Sobotka go, whose performance has riveted my attention throughout the second season.

I watched The Wire in a few days, I think it took me five days. Amazing series.
Blew me away.

His other series, The Corner is also rather powerful, but The Wire, I think, set my expectations for television to a new level. It was a fresh, and standard setting experience.

Have you seen the Canadian show, which only lasted two seasons, Intelligence? It's not as good as the wire, but it's something good to come out of canada, full of drama and violence, about the drug trade and the people charged with ending it.

Hey, and thanks for the comments on both entries. I haven't seen 'The Corner' or 'Intelligence' but will keep an eye out for them. I'm currently coming to the end of season four of the wire and loving every episode- man, Bubbles, Omar, Dookie, Bunk- what fantastic characters, this is the best since the Sopranos, no doubt!

I haven't seen the Sopranos. I've heard so many good things about it, but I have so little patience of cosa nostra.
