Wednesday Evening II

Shadows of branches slide across the window in front of me. My chair won't swivel properly. It's too hot so I am in that slight trance state with dilated pupils and blood pressure up a few points. It's a wednesday hump day evening. In work for another two hours. Not doing too badly today, just tired and thinking too much. I'm looking forward to getting to visit Austin next month. I miss Chilis, Applebys and above all, Bennigans. Even crappy Ol' Dennys looks good to me at this stage.

Listening to Johnny Cash's last recording doesn't help. Johnny was all that was great about the South- big, brash, direct with a great sense of humor and a greater sense of compassion- someone who was utterly human but came as close to greatness as any human has a right to be.

Not so cold, bright, clear day. I'm Jonesing to get back to teaching; trying to get some interviews lined up for when I'm in Austin next month. Got some business to take care of and a few things to sort out and a few peole to see. Got to see my buddy Chris and hang with him out in Hillbillyville; Got to see a certain fan of SNATCH and LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS. Looking forward to being back in Texas sunshine and eating good ol' Southern food again.
