The new cool kicks off with Chris Eccleston and Billie Piper's superb
run on the BBC's relaunched Dr.Who series last year. Taking a
beloved creaky old show, known just as much for it's miniscule budget
and crappy special efects as it was for it's eccentricity of characters
and vileness of it's villains, uber-producer, Russell T Davies crafter
a wonderfully updated show that somehow managed to take Dr.Who that
step further to keep up with modern sci-fi television whilst retaining
all of the charm and the uniquely British approach to the
stories. Whilst Chris bowed out at the end of his first season,
regenerating into David Tennant (who we will see on Christmas day in
his first full adventure as the good doctor), the legacy he has left
behind and the blueprint for the show's future he helped forge by a
courageous, unique and very personal approach to the role will not be
forgotten anytime soon.
